Man Overboard

It’s time.
To empty the suitcase again,
See what fits in.

Needful things,
Tossed to the side,
Like an old forgotten friend.

I will save,
Save your keep sakes,
Even though you know,
It causes my heart to break.

I am not afraid,
Though I know you would fear,
The fact I am fine without you here.

And the truth of me,
Was that obviously,
I’ll never be the man you want me to be.

So float on alone,
Till the shore line feels like home,
I am man overboard.
Let the sand on your feet,
And the sun make you complete,
I am man overboard.

The rain and cold,
Are perfect at night,
For crying your eyes out at life,

And the grayness,
Of the day as it passes by,
Makes me long for the 4th of July.

I always come again,
Whenever you call,
You always had me pinned to the wall.

You’ll be glad to know,
Kicked down on my knees,
I am not the man I ever wanted to be.

So float on alone,
Till the shore line feels like home,
I am man overboard.
Let the sand on your feet,
And the sun make you complete,
I am man overboard.

All my life,
It’s been wind and rain,
But I’ve survived the pain,
Just to find you here with a flame,
Burn me down,
I can’t swim,
But you’ll never see me drown.

So float on alone,
Till the shore line feels like home,
I am man overboard.
Let the sand on your feet,
And the sun make you complete,
I am man overboard.
